Selten so kurzweilig den aktuellen Stand der Wissenschaft geliefert bekommen. Dass Hariri manchmal etwas sehr Merksatz-mässig daherkommt, finde ich gar nicht schlecht. Dass er ein Leben als Jäger und Sammler als viel erstrebenswerter als das der sesshaften Bauern preist, wurde oft bekrittelt. Ich habe aber lieber einen engagierten Wissenschaftler, der wertet, als einen, der über allem schwebt. Klar auch sein Bekenntnis gegen die Fehlentwicklung Massentierhaltung. Dieses Buch ist mir stärker in Erinnerung geblieben als der Nachfolger "Homo Deus". Was wohl in der Natur der Sache liegt, man weiss halt mehr über die Vergangenheit als über die Zukunft...
Großartig, beeindruckend, flott geschrieben. Dafür, daß es ums ganz grundsätzliche geht, wirklich schön zu lesen.Und: Die deutsche Übersetzung liest sich gut (sagt jemand, der sonst oft an ebenjener verzweifelt und zum Original greift...)
Yuval Noah Harari's Buch stellt den Versuch dar, die Entwicklung des Homo-Sapiens möglichst kohärent und unter Berücksichtigung der größten Einflussfaktoren zu skizzieren. Der Autor vermittelt glaubhaft gängige anthropologische Grundlagen, die zu erklären versuchen warum der Homo-Sapiens den anderen Homo Spezien enteilen konnte.Es war nicht unbedingt unsere Physis, der Neandertaler war uns deutlich überlegen, und die größe unseres Hirnes sondern ganz bestimmte Entwicklungsschritte, die zu dieser Vorherrschaft geführt haben.Ein möglicher Grund scheint dabei die Entwicklung von Sprache. Mehr noch. Das Bezeichnen von etwas das nicht ist. Etwas das nicht angefasst, gegessen, gesehen oder gerochen werden kann. Das Beschreiben und weitergeben von Mythen (siehe Jordan Petersons Werk "Maps of Meaning") - das Transportieren von damit verbundenen Werten, Regeln und Geboten - samt der sozialen Funktion des "Lästerns" scheinen hier Schlüsselrollen eingenommen zu haben.Der Streifzug Yuval Noah Harari's geht weit darüber hinaus - gar hin zur Entwicklung des Kapitalismus und dessen Synergie mit der Wissenschaft.
Dass Harari ein ausgesprochen guter Schriftsteller ist, das brauche ich nicht weiter auszuführen.Er besitzt die Gabe ein Buch über unsere Menschheit zu schreiben, die einen in einen Bann zieht und bis zum Ende nicht loslässt.Da ich schon mehrere Bücher dieses Genres gelesen habe, kann ich sagen, dass es mit Abstand das beste ist.Man sieht die Menschheit nach Vollendung des Lesens in einem anderen Blickwinkel.Sehr zu empfehlen!
I am not going to lie the book was an interesting read and the author has a great skill in jumping from topic to topic.Hovewer, majority of the book consists of things of which the author has no clue about, but maybe read some "blog post" or "book" on it. The major problem is in the phrases such as "We dont know". I think it is unethical that the author speaks in "We" and not in "I".Additionally there is a lot of jumping on 1000 different topics which is the illness of 21th centry. Maybe thats why the book is so successfull. People get the impression that they "learned" something.The book is equivalent of a video with a title "100 interesting facts in 10 minutes". The facts are exagerated, misinformed and sometimes false. But at least they are interesting.
the book covers the complete history of mankind and provides a short glimpse into the possible futures. For me it was a sad book as it reveals the human drivers which seem to be mainly destructive to everything else. the arguments are quite compelling and well structured. a great book. hope we will learn from it. there is not endless time.
Ich lese sehr viel, aber dieses Buch ist ganz klar eines der besten Bücher, die ich bisher gelesen habe. Ich habe das Buch mittlerweile schon meinem halben Freundeskreis ausgeliehen und jeder war sehr begeistert. Immer wieder kommt der Autor mit neuen Erkenntnissen, bei denen man sich denkt "ja, stimmt eigentlich. Darüber hab ich noch nie nachgedacht". Die englische Version ist für deutsche Muttersprachler - wie ich finde - sehr gut lesbar.
Sehr interessant geschrieben, allerdings teilweise etwas lang, d.h. koennte fuer wissenschaftlich nicht Interessierte teilweise Laengen haben. Das Thema ist jedoch hochaktuell und selbst wenn einige Seiten schnell/ quer gelesen werden definitiv ein Buch das jeder lesen sollte
